Long time no write - I'm blogging on myspace (www.myspace.com/shannamf), but tonight it's too slow. I've been very slowly trying to get my Christian Theo I directed studies course done. I've been working alot this week, so I'm hardly getting as much done as I need to for my deadline in almost 2 weeks! Yikes! On a brighter note - in a moment of distraction from my book questions.... i though t I'd check to see if my grades were posted. OH MY GOSH... I couldn't believe my eyes! I got straight A's this semester!!!!! The first time ever! And this was my hardest semester being my last semester. Praise God! Somehow he strengthened me to do it! Amazing.... now if I can only get an A in this directed studies course.... hmmmm.... I guess that means back to work- yuck   PS - Merry Christmas!

Well, its only been a few months. So I've been updating on myspace, but no one seems to pay attention much to that. Today was missions chapel and it was so fun to see pic's of team Samoa 2005. I wrote about Fa'tuai, who they featured when they focused on Samoa, and they used what I had written so that was neat. We wore our matching outfits and sat together, unlike all the other teams. It ws so nice to hang with our team for dinner. I miss my "family"... we had some laughs. Nite for now

An evening home from work with my feet up and a book by my side. I'm working 40 hours this week, covering for my manager who's on vacation. Its been slow (I'm a florst at Ralphs), but in the end I'll have a nice pay check, I just have to keep reminding myself of that. After work today I stopped in a store just to see if they had the lotion to a favorite perfume that I had once bought there. Even though they didn't, my other favorite perfume they did have on special, b/c the box had been damages. And for only $5 they had the body wash that matched! What a steal! Mmmmm- Beauty by Arden, love it! I also found a really cool journal (I just bought one for Samoa and by the end it was full) in different shades of purple and it has some velvet on it. Plus I found an early x-mas gift too. I made out well. I love to shop... good thing I have a pay check coming.
Nicole and I are reading a book together. I know the title sound really cheesy, but bear with me. I just started today and its awesome! The book's obviously about singlness and I was really hoping that she wasn't going to say the same old thing we've all heard. Sure enough, she's taken such a fresh approach with Biblical truth and added humor that I'm already on Ch. 3! Its great, I think I'll spend the rest of my evening reading- what a treat for once, especially since its not a text book (I get to read lots of those starting next week --- hope that happy face worked... which leads reminds me that I didn't mention that I got a new labtop! I got a scholarship and I thought this would be a worth while investment. So I got a Apple IBook which came with a freee IPod. I'm enjoying it so far, still getting use to it, but it certainly is a blessing considering my other labtop was old and I broke the monitor).
Grrrrmmmmmbbbbbblllleeeee... Fia Ai-- which means I'm hungry in Samoan. Yummy chili's awaiting! Fa (bye).

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:6-7.
I've been reading 1 Peter over and over within the last 2 months and each time The Word reveals soemthing new and refreshing. This passage is one I've read before, but today it really took hold of my heart. I can be very stubborn, but since I've returned to the US, the Lord has set all my prayers in motion and now I understand the meaning of humbling "my plan" under the mighty hand of God. I had many hopes for Ryan and I, but all the love, time, energy, growth, experiences, pain, and joy of an entire year has been humbled to His hand and to His will. All to trust and hope in His proper timing despite my self- centeredness. My girlfriend Gohar just reminded me the other day to cast my cares on Him because he cares for me, and then my eyes fell upon those same words this morning. How good the Lord is! Why should He have any cares for me who so often wants to plan my own life with my mighty hand? The Lord is so good to always gently remind us that He is in control and He loves us more than we can understand! I cast all my anxieties on you, oh Lord, that your mighty hand may guide and comfort this not humble enough heart to her husband one day.

I think its happening! I'm becoming a Californian again- AHHHHH!!! Today's the first day I didn't wear a lava lava or Samoan shirt! And, finally this morning I got my hair cut! It's a bit shorter than I expected. Definetly the shortest I've had it in a long time, but same cute layers I had when I first got it cut this style at the begining of the year. With the cut making me feel like a new woman- lol- I had a chance to do my nails and toes too! It's been a good six weeks! I decided to go with a flare of red. All this styling makes me think back on our trip to Samoa and how I lived without the primming of makeup, hair, and nails and it was freeing! The best part of it all was that even when I felt like I looked my worst, the kids still loved me and that's an amazing feeling!!!  When in Samoa that was the longest time I have ever gone without wearing everyday... and that took some getting use to. But it is nice to feel like me again. That's all for now. Tonight a family member's having a birthday party and it just happens to be Hawaiian style- well I've got plenty of island style for attire since I'm FOI- lol, Fresh Off the Island .
